Gbajabiamila Threatens Adeyemi With N10bn Defamation Suit

Femi Gbajabiamila has threatened Adeniyi Adeyemi with a N10 billion defamation suit unless he withdraws allegations made against him over the disputed PFIPC agency.

The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu gave Adeyemi 72 hours to retract the claims, stop further publication and issue public apologies, according to a legal letter reported by Premium Times and Punch.

The letter was dated July 6 and sent through Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, whose firm represents Gbajabiamila.

Adeyemi, who has been linked to the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, had accused Gbajabiamila of corruption, abuse of office, fraud and murder during a June 25 press conference.

Gbajabiamila’s lawyers described the allegations as false and malicious. They said the claims were designed to damage his reputation and weaken public confidence in his office.

The lawyers demanded that Adeyemi remove related videos, transcripts and recordings from all platforms, publish a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers, and give a written undertaking not to repeat the claims.

They warned that failure to comply would lead to criminal defamation proceedings and a civil suit seeking N10 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages, to be paid to a charity of Gbajabiamila’s choice.
