Kaduna State ministries have begun presentations for the 2027 budget, with the government saying human capital development will remain a main focus of the spending plan.

Commissioner for Planning and Budget Muktar Ahmed Monrovia opened the budget defence on Wednesday and said agriculture, health and education would get priority in the appropriation bill.

He said the 2027 plan would build on the last three and a half years of the Uba Sani administration. The commissioner also pointed to early childhood development as a new budget line for children from birth to age five.

The government said social protection, security and infrastructure would also stay central to next year’s spending. Monrovia said the 2027 budget would be the fourth and final budget cycle of Governor Sani’s first term.

On agriculture, he said Kaduna has more than one million of Nigeria’s 42 million farming households, adding that the state had distributed free fertiliser and improved seeds to smallholder farmers in the last three years.
