Fubara Signs Rivers N1.84tn 2026 Budget Into Law

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has signed the state’s N1.84tn 2026 Appropriation Bill into law after the House of Assembly passed the spending plan on Thursday.

The signing ends a delayed budget process that began when Fubara presented the proposal to lawmakers on July 10. NaijaTrend earlier reported the presentation here.

The governor signed the bill at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt. He said his administration would work with the Assembly and focus on programmes and projects meant to improve living conditions in the state.

Punch reported that the budget will be funded from N487.6bn in Internally Generated Revenue, N936.052bn from Federation Account Allocation Committee receipts, N48bn in opening and closing balances, N50bn in proposed internal loans and N25bn from asset sales.

The sectoral breakdown includes N262bn for agriculture, N625.8bn for the economic sector, N65bn for law and justice, and N435.4bn for the social sector. Lawmakers also recommended N1.4tn in capital expenditure.

Channels TV reported that Fubara described the budget as a “breath of fresh air” and thanked the Assembly for moving the process forward. Daily Post said the House leader, Major Jack, urged the executive to implement the budget prudently for the benefit of residents.
