APC Wins All 24 Chairmanship Seats In Gombe Council Elections
The All Progressives Congress has won all 24 chairmanship seats and 240 councillorship positions in the Gombe State local government elections.
Channels TV reported that the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission announced the result after Saturday’s poll.
The commission said six political parties fielded candidates for the chairmanship elections.
According to Channels TV, the elections were held across 114 wards and 2,988 polling units, covering the state’s 11 local government areas and 13 newly created local council development areas.
Daily Trust reported that GOSIEC chairman Abdullahi Garba Talasse announced the results in Gombe on Saturday.
Talasse said the ruling party won in all local government councils and LCDAs where elections were conducted.
He said Gombe had expanded from 11 local government councils with 114 councillors to 24 councils and LCDAs with 240 councillors.
“From the results before the commission, APC has won all the 24 chairmanship seats and all the 240 councillorship positions,” Daily Trust quoted him as saying.
Daily Post also reported that APC won the entire 24 chairmanship seats and 240 councillorship positions.
It listed the parties that contested as APC, Youth Party, National Rescue Movement, Zenith Labour Party, African Action Congress and Democratic Liberation Alliance.
