Amaechi Withdraws Suit Challenging Atiku’s ADC Presidential Primary Win

A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out Rotimi Amaechi’s suit challenging Atiku Abubakar’s emergence as the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik struck out the case on Friday after Amaechi’s lawyer, Jibrin Okutepa, told the court that an application had been filed to discontinue it following a settlement between the parties.

Amaechi had asked the court to set aside the ADC presidential primary held on May 25, which produced Atiku as the party’s candidate. He also sought orders stopping Atiku from presenting himself as the candidate and stopping INEC from recognising him.

The withdrawal came after the ADC named Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate. NaijaTrend earlier reported here on the court’s handling of the earlier stage of the dispute.

Atiku won the primary with 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi came second with 504,117 votes. Mohammed Hayatu-Deen came third with 177,120 votes.
