Wike Says Atiku, Obi Would Come After Him If Tinubu Loses In 2027
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said he expects Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to come after him politically if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 election.
Wike made the remarks during a media parley on Wednesday, where he again defended his support for Tinubu’s re-election and said he had no regrets about his position.
Daily Post reported him as saying he would be “the first politician” to suffer if Tinubu lost, adding that he believed the opposition figures would “come for my head.”
Punch reported that Wike also described himself as still in charge of his political structure in Rivers State and the FCT, saying a sitting governor does not automatically control a political territory.
The former Rivers governor said he had returned home to reconnect with his political base and would not “fold” his hands ahead of the election.
His comments add to the continuing tension around his role in national politics, where he remains a PDP figure serving in Tinubu’s APC-led federal government.
