Tambuwal Says Only Courageous Politicians Can Join ADC
Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has said politicians need courage to join the African Democratic Congress if they believe they are acting for the public rather than for personal gain.
Tambuwal made the comment while receiving Isa Salihu Kalenjeni, the immediate past chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, into the ADC after Kalenjeni resigned from office and left the All Progressives Congress.
Daily Post and Daily Trust both reported Tambuwal as saying that anyone convinced they are working for the people and for God should have the courage to leave any party and join the ADC.
The former governor accused the APC of intimidating politicians who want to defect to the ADC and of trying to create division inside the opposition party.
He said the ruling party now sees the ADC as a major political challenge, and linked public disappointment with the APC to the country’s security problems.
Tambuwal praised Kalenjeni for joining the ADC without conditions, describing the move as a sacrifice and a sign of commitment to the party’s principles.
The remarks are separate from the ADC’s earlier national directive asking state chapters not to engage lawyers or handle court papers without approval from the party’s national legal office.
