Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule says he hopes Nigeria will one day produce an all-Christian presidential ticket that wins a national election.

Sule made the comment on Channels Television’s Politics Today while responding to concerns raised by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, about another same-faith presidential ticket in 2027.

“I pray that one day Nigeria will have a Christian-Christian ticket, and it will win. That’s what I pray to see,” Sule said, according to Punch.

The governor rejected claims that the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket amounted to religious exclusion. He referred to the late Moshood Abiola’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in 1993 and said same-faith pairings had previously won elections in Nigeria.

Sule said it was normal for opposition politicians to raise objections to the APC’s ticket arrangement, but argued that governors within the ruling party had not made similar complaints.
