SERAP has taken INEC to court over allegations that APC governors diverted N800 billion from Federation Account allocations for political and campaign purposes.

The rights group wants the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the electoral commission to investigate the allegations and demand full disclosure from the APC and the governors said to be involved.

The suit is marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1426/2026. SERAP is asking for details of any dedicated campaign fund, including the names of donors and the lawful sources of the money allegedly contributed.

The group also wants INEC to review compliance with Section 91 of the Electoral Act by political parties and candidates, especially on the sources and scale of campaign financing in the current election cycle.

SERAP said the allegations raise questions about political finance transparency, electoral fairness and the use of public resources. The claims have not been determined by the court.
