Kwara Central Senator Saliu Mustapha has picked the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for the district, hours after announcing that he had left the All Progressives Congress.

The move comes after NaijaTrend reported his APC resignation here. It now puts him in line to contest the same seat on the PDP platform.

Punch reported that the Kwara State PDP chairman, Issa Bawa, handed the ticket to Mustapha on Friday. Daily Trust also reported that Mustapha formally picked the PDP senatorial nomination form after leaving the ruling party.

Daily Trust said the ticket followed discussions involving former lawmaker Moshood Mustapha, who had earlier been considered for the PDP’s Kwara Central senatorial ticket.

Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central, had linked his exit from the APC to the political crisis in the state chapter and his disagreement with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The switch sets up another contest in Kwara Central ahead of the 2027 elections, with Mustapha now expected to run under the PDP after leaving the APC.
