Salihu Lukman Suspends ADC Membership, Accuses El-Rufai Of Hostile Treatment

Salihu Lukman has suspended his membership of the African Democratic Congress, accusing former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai of treating him with hostility inside the opposition platform.

Lukman said his decision followed what he described as poor handling of internal disagreements and a lack of respect for open political engagement. He accused El-Rufai of creating an atmosphere that made continued participation difficult.

The former APC national vice-chairman has been one of the political figures pushing opposition realignment ahead of the 2027 elections. His latest move points to fresh strain within the coalition talks that have drawn politicians from different parties.

Lukman said he remained committed to democratic reform and would continue to engage with Nigerians who want a more open political process. The ADC had not announced a fresh resolution of the dispute as of the latest reports.
