PDP Declares Lado-Danmarke Consensus Governorship Candidate in Katsina
Senator Yakubu Lado-Danmarke has emerged as the PDP’s governorship candidate for Katsina State, securing 77,013 votes in the party’s primary election and winning as a consensus candidate.
Returning officer Nuraddeen Sani-Kankara declared the result in Katsina on Sunday, saying the exercise followed the Electoral Act 2026, the PDP constitution, and the party’s electoral guidelines. A total of 77,085 delegates were accredited, though 72 missed the cut after accreditation closed before their arrival.
Why Consensus
State PDP chairman Nura Amadi-Kurfi said the party adopted Lado-Danmarke as a consensus candidate to promote cohesion, stability, and electoral success. He described the senator as an experienced politician capable of repositioning the state.
In his acceptance speech, Lado-Danmarke promised inclusive leadership, transparency, and people-oriented policies if elected.
“I am deeply honoured by this confidence and overwhelming support from our great party. I accept this responsibility with humility and a strong commitment to serve the people of Katsina State diligently,” he said, calling on party members to remain steadfast and mobilise for the 2027 polls.
The senator said the PDP remained committed to tackling insecurity, unemployment, and poverty in the state.
