Kebbi Senator Dumps APC For ADC, Cites Injustice In Ruling Party
Senator Garba Maidoki of Kebbi South has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress, citing injustice and internal crises within the APC.
Vanguard reported that Maidoki’s letter was read during plenary by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, who presided over the session.
In the letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Maidoki said his decision was informed by concerns about developments in the APC. He said the lingering internal crisis of the party had made his political aspiration a source of concern.
Maidoki accused the APC of failing to uphold its slogan of justice, peace and unity, particularly during the recently concluded primary elections in Kebbi State.
He said he believes the ADC provides a better platform to advance the interests of his senatorial district and Nigeria at large.
