Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved the dissolution of the governing board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission.

The dissolution takes effect from September 18, 2026, when the board’s tenure expires, according to a letter from the state government. The letter was issued by the Director of Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan Wasagu, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida.

The government said two commission members whose tenures have not expired will remain in office until the electoral body is reconstituted.

Idris thanked the outgoing board members for their service and said his administration would protect the independence and integrity of the commission.

The decision comes as states continue to face scrutiny over the handling of local government and state-level electoral bodies. The Kebbi government did not immediately announce replacement nominees in the two reports.
