Kano PRP accuses Kwankwaso of buying nomination forms

The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party has accused former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of purchasing nomination forms for all 69 elective positions on the party’s platform through a proxy who is not a party member.

Premium Times reported that the North-west Stakeholders Forum of the PRP, led by chairperson Abdulkadir Musa, addressed journalists at the NUJ Secretariat in Kano and threatened legal action.

Musa said nomination forms for governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly seats had been bought by a single individual who is not a member of the PRP. He said the party had already selected its candidates by consensus before the forms were purchased.

The Kwankwasiyya movement, which supports Kwankwaso, dismissed the allegations through its spokesperson Habibu Mailemu. Mailemu called the claims baseless and accused the PRP forum of being proxies of the Kano State government, saying the rising profile of the NDC in Kano had unsettled the administration.

Kwankwaso is currently the vice-presidential running mate of the NDC for the 2027 elections.
