INEC Fixes September 19 For Five By-Elections In Four States
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed September 19 for five by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The commission’s chief press secretary, Tunde Oketola, disclosed the date in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja, according to Premium Times and Vanguard.
The elections cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies. The federal poll will hold in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State.
The state constituency elections will take place in Disina and Sakwa in Bauchi State, Udu in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu in Kano State.
The date gives parties and election officials less than two weeks to complete preparations for the replacement polls. The reports did not list the candidates for the affected seats.
