Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied a report claiming he was offered N500bn to contest the 2027 presidential election against Peter Obi.

Jonathan’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, described the claim as false and said the former president was not involved in any plan to divide votes in the South-South.

The disputed report, which circulated on Facebook, claimed Jonathan had received an offer to enter the race against Obi. Eze said the story did not state where or when Jonathan allegedly made the claim, who made the supposed offer, or who witnessed it.

Daily Post reported that Eze warned Nigerians to verify sensational political claims before sharing them, especially as election season approaches.

Jonathan has not announced any plan to run in 2027. The denial comes as parties and political blocs continue early positioning ahead of the next presidential contest.
