Ganduje Says Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket Dead On Arrival In Kano
Former APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has dismissed a possible Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket, saying it would fail in Kano State.
Ganduje spoke with journalists on Tuesday and argued that the proposed Nigeria Democratic Congress pairing does not have the political strength or governance record needed to win support in the state.
“I don’t think Peter Obi and Kwankwaso’s ticket will succeed in Kano. It will not succeed. In fact, it is dead on arrival,” Ganduje said, according to Vanguard and Daily Post.
He questioned Obi’s record as governor of Anambra State and asked what legacy the former governor left behind. Ganduje also criticised Kwankwaso, saying the former Kano governor did not win two consecutive terms in office.
The remarks add to early 2027 positioning by major political figures as opposition parties test possible alliances against the APC. Ganduje’s argument is that Kano voters would not be persuaded by the Obi-Kwankwaso combination, even if both men remain prominent national figures.
Daily Post reported that Ganduje compared Kwankwaso’s tenure with those of Ibrahim Shekarau and himself, saying both served two straight terms as Kano governors.
