FG Vows to Crush Terrorists, Secure Release of Abducted Pupils in Oyo and Borno

The Federal Government has said security agencies are under fresh instructions to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo and Borno states, as pressure grows over attacks on schools and the broader insecurity crisis.

At a security briefing in Abuja, Information Minister Mohammed Idris said coordinated rescue efforts were ongoing and that federal authorities were working with the affected state governments to return the victims safely. The latest intervention follows public anger over the abductions and the killing of a teacher in Oyo State.

FG Restates Rescue Priority

According to BusinessDay and NewsMirror, Idris said the Tinubu administration had directed security and intelligence agencies to deploy all lawful measures to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers and bring those responsible to justice. The briefing also referenced plans to strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities, including the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards.

The Oyo and Borno incidents have added to concerns about the safety of schools, especially in rural communities where response times are slower and armed groups can move with less resistance.
