FAAN Denies Role In Uber’s Nigeria Exit

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has denied pushing Uber out of the Nigerian market, saying its dispute with e-hailing operators was about passenger safety and airport accountability.
FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku said on Friday that Uber’s decision to leave Nigeria was a company decision and not the result of any targeted action by the airport authority.
The response follows Uber’s announcement that it would end ride-hailing operations in Nigeria after 12 years. NaijaTrend earlier reported that exit here.
Kuku said FAAN had asked operators to regularise commercial pick-ups at its airports through licence agreements. The agency had recently restricted some e-hailing pick-ups while working on a formal arrangement for airport operations.
Daily Post also reported that FAAN said it had no hand in Uber’s exit and rejected claims that it acted to favour a newly introduced airport e-hailing platform.
