DSS Opens Probe Into Operatives After Sowore Court Incident

The Department of State Services says it has opened an inquiry into the conduct of its operatives after a court incident involving activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.

Vanguard reported that the DSS announced the inquiry in a statement issued by its Deputy Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Favour Dozie.

The agency said its director-general ordered an immediate review of the actions of personnel involved in the incident after Sowore’s remand proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja on June 22.

The DSS said it took note of public concern over a video showing an altercation involving Sowore, a correctional service official and DSS operatives after the proceedings.

The Service said it would review the personnel conduct shown in the video. No outcome of the inquiry had been announced at the time of publication.
