Court Grants Sowore N200m Bail In Alleged Cybercrime Case

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Omoyele Sowore N200 million bail in his alleged cybercrime trial.
Vanguard, Premium Times, Punch and Channels TV reported that Justice Mohammed Umar granted the bail on Tuesday and ordered Sowore to produce two sureties.
The reports said one surety must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the other must own landed property in Abuja.
The court also ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar pending the determination of the case.
Channels TV reported that the judge released Sowore to his lawyers and adjourned the case until Monday, July 6, for the opening of his defence.
Sowore is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services over alleged cybercrime linked to social media posts about President Bola Tinubu.
The ruling is a fresh development after NaijaTrend earlier reported his remand in Kuje Correctional Centre here.
