The Allied People’s Movement says recent attacks from the Presidency show President Bola Tinubu is worried about Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s popularity ahead of the 2027 election.

The party made the claim after presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala criticised Makinde in a media interview. APM said the remarks showed that the ruling party was struggling to answer questions about its record.

Punch reported that APM National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf accused the Tinubu administration of resorting to name-calling because Makinde’s profile was rising nationally.

Daily Trust reported the same reaction, with the party saying Tinubu no longer commanded the support of most Nigerians and that the 2027 race would test his record in office.
