Adeleke Suspends NURTW Activities In Osun Motor Parks
The Osun State Government has suspended the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in motor parks across the state, directing security agencies to enforce the order.
The decision follows the factional clashes in Osogbo that NaijaTrend reported here. Governor Ademola Adeleke issued the new directive after a State Security Council meeting, according to Channels Television and Vanguard.
The reports said the suspension followed a continuing factional dispute within the union that the government said had disrupted business activity and raised security concerns.
In a statement issued through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government said the suspension was intended to stop the collection of levies in the parks and restore order.
Adeleke directed the police and other security agencies to prevent anyone from operating in the name of the union and to arrest alleged violators for possible prosecution. The order does not close the motor parks themselves.
