Adeleke Seeks Fadahunsi Arrest As Senator Explains “Kill Accord” Comment

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has asked security agencies to investigate and arrest Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral election video, while the senator says his “Kill Accord” comment was about defeating the Accord Party with votes, not violence.

The dispute has added fresh tension to the final days before the August 15 governorship election. Adeleke said he had reported the video to the Inspector-General of Police and also called for the Department of State Services to act.

Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, said through his media office that the remark was a political metaphor and that elections should be decided peacefully at the ballot box. His office said the comment did not amount to a call for attacks on members or supporters of any party.

Adeleke and the Imole Campaign Council argued that the video contained threats against Accord supporters in Ijeshaland. The campaign council said the alleged comments were serious because Fadahunsi is a serving member of the National Assembly.

Reports on the controversy also said the video had circulated widely on social media, with political actors and residents raising concern about possible election-related violence. Fadahunsi urged party supporters to maintain law and order during the election period.
