Adeleke Alleges Police Intimidation, Rigging Attempt In Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that police officers were being used to intimidate voters and disrupt the governorship election.

Adeleke made the allegation after voting at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area. He called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to investigate the claim and keep security personnel neutral.

Vanguard and Daily Post both reported that Adeleke alleged a police officer nicknamed “London” had been brought from Port Harcourt to Ede to disrupt the election. The governor also alleged that there were plans to bypass the normal results-collation process from polling units to wards and local governments.

The reports did not include an immediate police or APC response to the allegation. The claims should therefore be read as Adeleke’s account of events unless security agencies or party officials provide further details.

Adeleke, who is running under the Accord Party, said he wanted a peaceful election and asked residents to be allowed to vote freely.
