Delta Suspends Commissioner After Court Remands Him Over Aide Assault

Delta Works Commissioner Reuben Izeze has been suspended from office after a High Court in Effurun remanded him for 14 days over the alleged assault of Simon Mudi, a senior aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The development follows an earlier NaijaTrend report here on the attack on Mudi, popularly known as Temple. The new reports say the matter has now moved from the earlier arrest order to a court remand and an official suspension.

Daily Post reported that the court ordered Izeze’s remand over the alleged attack at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun. Punch reported that the Delta State Government announced an indefinite suspension shortly after, saying the step was to allow security agencies to investigate the allegations without interference.

The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu. The statement said the government would maintain public safety and order even where public officials are involved.

The reports did not say that Izeze had been convicted. The case remains at the allegation and remand stage.
