Delta orders arrests after governor’s aide is attacked at APC meeting

Delta State Government has ordered security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in the attack on Simon Mudi, a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Mudi, also known as Temple, was attacked during a Delta Central APC stakeholders’ meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The state Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the government was disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media and described the assault as unacceptable.

Punch reported that Aniagwu said Governor Oborevwori had directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute those involved. The government said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Premium Times reported that the video of the assault had raised fresh concerns over political violence in Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The reports also said another state official, Reuben Izeze, was attacked during the same incident.
