Youth Minister Says Adire Not Approved As NYSC Uniform
Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande has clarified that the Federal Government has not approved Adire as a replacement for the National Youth Service Corps uniform.
The clarification follows NaijaTrend’s earlier report on the minister’s remarks about the proposed uniform change, which can be read here.
Olawande said his comments on Channels Television were misunderstood. He explained that Adire and Ankara were mentioned as examples of proposals being considered under wider NYSC reforms, not as a final government decision.
Daily Post and Punch both reported that the minister issued the clarification on Thursday after public reactions to claims that Adire had already been adopted. He said the current khaki uniform remains in use while the government reviews options.
The update changes the earlier public understanding of the reform. It leaves the uniform proposal at the discussion stage until an official approval is announced, while the wider NYSC reform review continues.
