President Bola Tinubu launched his campaign for a second term in Kaduna on Saturday, October 24, asking Nigerians to renew his mandate in the 2027 election and defending his administration’s economic policies.
The All Progressives Congress held the flag-off at Kaduna Township Stadium, with Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors and party leaders in attendance. The rally included the presentation of party flags to the seven North-West governorship candidates.
Tinubu promised prosperity and continuity if re-elected. He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and take part in the election.
“I have an argument, I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! They created hunger, they created poverty, we are trying to eradicate it,” Tinubu said, according to Channels Television.
He also defended the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the old system encouraged corruption, false invoices and fuel smuggling. Shettima urged support for the president, citing Tinubu’s backing of northern presidential candidates in previous elections.
APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda presented flags to Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Radda of Katsina, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Umar Namadi of Jigawa and Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Punch reported.
The rally followed the campaign timetable announced by director-general Abdulaziz Yari. NaijaTrend reported the planned Kaduna launch here.
