Nigeria’s Super Falcons face Cameroon in Casablanca on Sunday with a WAFCON semi-final place and a 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket on the line.

The quarter-final is a high-stakes meeting between two familiar rivals. The winner will move into the last four of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and also secure qualification for the next Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Punch reported that the match will hold at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium at 6pm Nigeria time. The report said the fixture is one of the biggest ties of the last eight, with Nigeria trying to stay on course in their title defence after reaching the knockout stage.

Daily Post also framed the game as a test of whether the Falcons have recovered from their slow start to the tournament. Nigeria lost their opening game to Malawi before wins over Zambia and Egypt pushed Justine Madugu’s team into the quarter-finals.

Premium Times reported that Madugu believes the players understand what is at stake. Nigeria will have to handle a Cameroon side that has often made meetings between both countries tense, physical and difficult to predict.
