Osinachi Ohale retires from Super Falcons after 16 years

Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has retired from international football after 16 years with Nigeria’s women’s national team.
The 34-year-old centre-back announced the decision on social media, bringing an end to a Super Falcons career that Daily Post said included 86 appearances, four WAFCON titles and four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.
Premium Times reported that Ohale made her senior debut in 2010 and featured at seven Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Her last international cycle came as Nigeria failed to qualify for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“After 16 years of wearing the Nigerian jersey, representing my country, and giving everything I had to the beautiful game, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football,” she wrote in the retirement statement quoted by both reports.
Ohale is expected to continue her club career after leaving the international scene.
