Police arrest six over drugs and alleged farmer murder in Bauchi

Bauchi police say they have arrested six suspects in two separate cases involving suspected Indian hemp and the alleged killing of a farmer in Gadau.

The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said officers first arrested two men after intercepting a black Sharon Wagon along Sharfolli village in Atafowa District on September 21.

Punch and Daily Post both reported that the suspects, Shu’aibu Umar, 35, and Isah Ibrahim, 20, were allegedly found with 69 blocks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp concealed in bags of groundnuts.

In a separate case, police arrested four suspects over the alleged killing of 45-year-old farmer Garba Abdullahi of Dunari village, Atahowa District.

According to the police account carried by both outlets, Abdullahi was allegedly attacked on September 22 while returning from his farm after being accused of causing the illness of a woman identified as Sawaida Dahiru.

Daily Post named the four murder-case suspects as Shitu Dahiru, 25; Magaji Dahiru, 42; Sabiu Auwalu, 20; and Abbah Abdulzahar, 19. It reported that the victim was taken to General Hospital, Azare, where he was confirmed dead.

Police said the suspects were in custody and that the recovered exhibits had been taken for further investigation.
