Lagos seals church, hotels, others over noise pollution breaches

Lagos environmental officials have sealed 12 establishments across the state over persistent noise pollution and other regulatory breaches.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency said the premises had continued to breach environmental rules despite warnings, abatement notices and opportunities to comply.

The affected places include Celestial Church of Christ, Aduragbemi Parish, at Okerube in Ikotun; Limas at Abaranje, Ikotun; Nico Hotel & Suites at Ejigbo; and 10Kobo Night Club at Agodo-Egbe. Punch and Daily Post both reported the enforcement action.

LASEPA said Kobo Night Club was sealed for noise pollution and failure to comply with the agency’s directives. Master Furniture at Idimu-Ikota Road was also among the businesses named in the enforcement list.

The agency said the action formed part of its wider drive to enforce environmental standards in residential and business areas. It warned that establishments that ignore notices or continue to disturb nearby communities would face further sanctions.
