EFCC declares Abdurasheed Maina wanted again

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former pension reform task team chairman Abdurasheed Abdullahi Maina wanted again over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.

The notice was issued on Wednesday and signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale. The commission described Maina, 61, as an indigene of Biu in Borno State.

Punch, Daily Post and Daily Trust all reported the EFCC notice. Punch reported that the agency asked anyone with useful information on Maina’s whereabouts to contact its offices, the nearest police station or other security agencies.

The notice says the EFCC wants Maina in connection with an alleged case of receiving stolen property.

Daily Trust also reported the background to Maina’s earlier pension-fraud case. He was arraigned in 2019 on money-laundering charges and later convicted by a Federal High Court in Abuja over offences linked to pension funds.

The latest notice did not give further details about the alleged receiving-stolen-property case or state when the alleged offence occurred.
