Namadi Suspends N1.3bn Jigawa Hospital Renovation Contract Over Poor Work
Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has suspended the N1.3 billion renovation and remodelling contract for Gumel General Hospital over poor implementation.
The governor gave the order after an unscheduled night inspection of the hospital, where he assessed work on the male and female wards, the General Out-Patient Department and the isolation centre.
Namadi said the work did not match what the state approved and complained about low-quality materials and failure to follow project specifications.
The contract was awarded to Yasmeen Automobile Nigeria Limited in December with an eight-month completion timeline.
The governor directed the Ministry of Health to suspend the contractor and take steps to protect public funds while the state reviews the project.
