Kano Governor Yusuf Picks Garo As 2027 Running Mate

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has named Deputy Governor Murtala Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The governor announced the decision during a meeting with federal political appointees serving under President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

A statement by Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the governor based the choice on Garo’s performance, loyalty and contribution to the administration since taking office.

Yusuf said he remained confident in his deputy and urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to stay united as the government works toward the next election.

Channels TV and Daily Post both reported that the governor praised Garo’s work in the administration and presented the decision as part of his 2027 re-election planning.
