Four of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats stars have been featured on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup soundtrack album, cementing the genre’s growing global dominance ahead of the world’s biggest sporting event.

Davido, Burna Boy, Rema, and Ayra Starr all appear on the 18-track album released in early June. Davido has also been announced as a headline performer at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles.

Afrobeats on the World Stage

The inclusion of four Nigerian artists on the World Cup album marks one of the most significant moments for Afrobeats on the global music stage. Davido’s headline performance at the LA Countdown Concert places him at the centre of the World Cup’s opening festivities, before the tournament kicks off on June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico.

The World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches across North American venues. The opening match will see Mexico face South Africa in Mexico City.

The 2026 World Cup is historic — the first edition with 48 teams and the first hosted across three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With billions of viewers expected, the inclusion of Nigerian artists on the official album ensures Afrobeats will reach a truly global audience.

Davido, Burna Boy, Rema, and Ayra Starr represent a cross-section of the current Afrobeats generation — from established global stars to the newer wave of artists who have rapidly gained international recognition.
