Two Giants, One World Cup Anthem

Shakira and Burna Boy just dropped “Dai Dai,” and it’s already everywhere. The Colombian superstar and Nigeria’s African Giant teamed up for one of the official anthems of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, released May 15 through Sony Music Latin and FIFA.

The track runs nearly four minutes, blending Shakira’s Latin pop and reggaetón roots with Burna Boy’s Afrobeats punch. It’s energetic without trying too hard, the kind of song that makes you want to move even if you don’t speak any of the languages in the chorus.

Charity Built Into the Track

Here’s where it gets interesting: all royalties from “Dai Dai” go to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The goal is to raise $100 million by tournament’s end to support education and football opportunities for kids worldwide.

Shakira’s donating her entire share. Sony Music Latin is matching the first $250,000 the song generates. The chorus — “Dai dai, iko, dale, allez, let’s go” — pulls from multiple languages, reflecting the tournament’s global reach without feeling forced.

Burna Boy’s Growing World Cup Legacy

For Burna Boy, this is another milestone in a career that’s already rewritten what African artists can achieve on the global stage. Davido became the first Nigerian on an official World Cup song with “Hayya Hayya” in 2022. Now Burna Boy follows, and the presence of Nigerian and African artists at major football events feels less like an exception and more like the norm.

Shakira, meanwhile, is basically the Queen of World Cup Music at this point. Her 2010 anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” remains one of the most successful World Cup songs ever. “Dai Dai” continues that streak.

Halftime Show Lineup Confirmed

FIFA confirmed that Shakira, Madonna, and BTS will headline the first-ever halftime show during the 2026 World Cup final. The concert happens July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium. Chris Martin of Coldplay is curating the show.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States — the first edition with 48 teams. With “Dai Dai,” FIFA is building excitement for the expanded tournament while pushing a message of unity and supporting educational opportunities for children worldwide.
