Arsenal Lose 3-2 To Borussia Dortmund In Emirates Cup
Arsenal were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup at the Emirates Stadium, despite a late push and a penalty-shootout win after the final whistle.
Dortmund took control through goals from Samuele Inacio and Konstantino Karetsas before Ethan Nwaneri reduced the deficit for Arsenal. Joane Gadou restored Dortmund’s two-goal advantage from a corner, while Viktor Gyokeres later converted a penalty after Christos Tzolis was fouled.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard made his first pre-season appearance after returning from the World Cup. He was taken off after 30 minutes, while Tzolis was involved in both Arsenal goals.
The clubs had agreed to practise penalties after the match regardless of the result. Arsenal won that shootout, but Dortmund took the Emirates Cup match.
