Amusan wins Commonwealth Games bronze in women’s 100m hurdles

Tobi Amusan has won bronze for Nigeria in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Amusan finished third in 12.60 seconds on Thursday, behind Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who won gold in 12.33 seconds, and Jamaica’s Megan Tapper, who took silver in 12.41 seconds. Punch named the Jamaican medallist as Megan Simmonds, while Premium Times named her as Megan Tapper; both reports agreed on the winning times and Amusan’s bronze-medal finish.

The result ended Amusan’s run as Commonwealth champion after gold medals at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. She had been trying to become the first woman to win three straight Commonwealth titles in the event.

Earlier in the day, Amusan ran a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds in the heats. The time could not stand as a record because of the tailwind, but it was still the fastest women’s 100m hurdles time recorded at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions.

Amusan could not repeat that pace in the final, where Charlton and the Jamaican hurdler finished ahead of her. The bronze still gave Nigeria another athletics medal and kept Amusan on the Commonwealth Games podium for a third straight edition.
