Amusan says knee injury affected Commonwealth Games hurdles final

Tobi Amusan has said a knee problem from a training-camp fall affected her 100m hurdles final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where she finished third for Nigeria.

The explanation adds context to Nigeria’s bronze-medal finish already reported here. Amusan ran 12.60 seconds on Thursday, behind Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who won in 12.33 seconds, and Jamaica’s Megan Tapper, who was second in 12.41 seconds.

Amusan said she had a bad fall in training camp and came into the meet worried about her knee. Daily Post quoted her as saying she was thankful she stayed composed enough to reach the podium.

The result ended her run as defending Commonwealth champion in the event. She had won gold at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast and again at Birmingham 2022.

The Nigerian hurdler remains the world record holder, but the Glasgow final showed how narrow the margin can be when fitness is not fully settled.
