Suspected hoodlums have stolen Permanent Voter Cards from a distribution centre at Oyinlola DC Primary School, Okuku, in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

The incident happened on Sunday while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were distributing PVCs at Ward 2. Witnesses said the attackers fired shots, disrupted the exercise and carried away packs of cards kept near INEC officials.

Osun police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan had condemned the attack and ordered a full investigation to identify and prosecute those involved.

Daily Post reported that Osun House of Assembly Speaker Adewale Egbedun called for an immediate investigation and described the incident as an attack on the electoral process. The report also carried a separate statement from Odo-Otin APC Progressive Youth, which denied involvement and accused political opponents of making false claims.

The police said tactical and intelligence assets had been deployed as efforts continued to track the attackers and recover the stolen cards.
