Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala has pushed back after Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni shared old videos of his past criticism of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Bwala said his earlier comments should no longer dominate public debate now that he serves in Tinubu’s administration. He described the old remarks as baseless under current circumstances, while insisting they were not lies.

Daily Post reported that Rufai posted an old video in which Bwala criticised Tinubu and Shettima before joining the administration. Bwala responded by accusing the broadcaster of recycling old comments instead of focusing on current national issues.

Vanguard reported that Bwala made a similar argument during a Channels Television interview, where he said he was surprised that past statements were still being brought up after his change in political position.

Rufai later said he had nothing personal against Bwala and would continue to hold him accountable. The exchange adds to the wider public scrutiny Bwala has faced since moving from opposition criticism to a role inside the Presidency.
