Christopher Musa Denies Resignation Rumours, Threatens Court Action

Defence Minister Christopher Musa has denied reports that he is resigning and said he will seek legal action against those behind them.

The retired general spoke after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on Tuesday. He said he was shocked by the report and linked it to people unhappy with what he described as improving security results under the administration.

“I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this,” Musa said, according to Punch. “But whoever it is, we will take legal action against them.”

Daily Post also reported a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who said Musa remains fully focused on his national security mandate and dedicated to the country’s defence strategy.

Musa was appointed defence minister in December 2025 after serving as Chief of Defence Staff. His denial came amid fresh attention on the government’s security handling, with several states still battling kidnappings, bandit attacks and other violent crimes.

For now, the minister’s message is direct: the resignation claim is false, and he wants those behind it identified.
