Atiku Asks National Assembly To Probe Alleged N210bn Duplicate Budget Allocations

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has asked the National Assembly to investigate alleged duplicate and overlapping allocations of more than N210 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

Atiku made the demand in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.

He said the alleged duplication should be examined through a forensic review of the budget and argued that Nigerians deserved a clear explanation of how the allocations entered the spending plan.

Atiku linked the allegation to wider criticism of the Tinubu administration’s handling of public finance, including what he described as questionable budget insertions and spending outside agencies’ mandates.

He said Nigerians had been asked to endure subsidy removal, exchange rate changes, higher taxes and tariffs, while the government had not shown enough discipline in public spending.
