Gbenga Hashim Sues Accord, INEC Over Disputed Presidential Ticket

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has taken Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission to court over the party’s disputed presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

The case is before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Vanguard, Channels TV and Daily Post all reported that the court fixed July 14, 2026, for hearing in the suit.

Olawepo-Hashim wants the court to compel Accord to recognise him as its presidential candidate and submit his name to INEC.

The reports said he is asking whether Accord’s failure to upload or forward his name after the party primary violates the Electoral Act 2026, the Constitution and INEC rules for political parties.

Daily Post reported that Olawepo-Hashim said he emerged as the sole winner of Accord’s presidential primary on May 30, 2026.

Channels TV reported that Justice Mohammed Umar fixed the date for the substantive hearing, while Vanguard reported that supporters of the plaintiff were present at the court premises when the matter came up.

The dispute adds another legal battle to the early 2027 political calendar, with party nomination fights already shaping who appears on the ballot.
