A Federal High Court in Kaduna has cleared former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to get medical treatment — while staying in ICPC custody. His lawyers asked for access to Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja for dental and eye treatment, and Justice Rilwan Aikawa said yes, provided El-Rufai is moved under security and returned after each visit.

El-Rufai and co-defendant Joel Adoga are fighting 10 counts of money laundering, fund conversion, and handling proceeds of corruption. They both deny the charges.

The court had earlier granted El-Rufai bail of N200 million with two sureties. His separate application to vary those bail conditions — a key hearing that could affect his freedom ahead of trial — has been adjourned to May 7.

The ICPC said it would comply with Wednesday’s medical ruling while keeping El-Rufai in lawful custody.
