Wike Vows To Protect Abuja Master Plan, Hints At Looming Demolitions
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to protect the integrity of the Abuja Master Plan, warning that illegal structures along the Southern Parkway corridor will be demolished.
Daily Post reported that Wike gave the warning during the flag-off of a project in the Gaduwa District of Abuja.
He directed the Development Control Department to remove all illegal structures along the corridor, saying the government must protect the integrity of the master plan.
Punch confirmed the development, reporting that Wike said the demolitions would target structures built without approval, particularly those encroaching on designated right-of-way corridors.
The FCT minister said the current administration would not tolerate the distortion of the Abuja Master Plan by individuals who built without following due process.
APC chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who represented President Tinubu at the event, commended the FCT administration for its developmental strides.
