Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working with Special Operations Forces, rescued about 360 abducted civilians from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State during an operation around the Mandara Mountains.

Naija News, citing military sources who spoke to Vanguard, said the operation was carried out on June 6 and the rescued victims were mostly women and children.

Operation Followed Earlier Disruption of Terrorist Camps

According to the reports, special operations teams first disrupted terrorist camps in the area before troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade moved in to extract the captives.

The civilians were said to have been abducted during an earlier attack on Ngoshe community.

Two Infants Reportedly Died During Evacuation

The rescue operation also recorded a tragic loss, with two infants reportedly dying during the evacuation because of the difficult terrain.

Military sources said the rescued civilians were screened on arrival, while those needing urgent care were stabilised and taken to General Hospital, Gwoza, before further processing and reunification steps.
